Aphrodite is the Greek goddess of love,
beauty, and fertility. There are two ways of how this goddess was born. One poet by the name of Hesoid says
that Aphrodite was born from the foam of the sea. The other came from another poet named Homer that she was
the child of Zeus and Dione.
Aphrodite played a big role in starting the
entire Trojan War. There was a dispute on Olympus of which goddess was the most beutiful of all. The final three
were Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. These three sought out a decision from Zeus. Zeus who wanted no part in this
sent the trio to a shepard prince named Paris.
The three wanted to be chosen the fairest
of all so they tried to bribe the young man to decide. Aphrodite would give him the most beutiful woman on the earth
while the other two gods would give him either victory in the great war or the power to rule over a large kingdom. Paris
went and chose Aphrodite's bribe, but it so happens that the most beutiful woman in the world was already married.
